IKODAS HONORED FATAI-ABATAN, TINUBU, ABIRU, OTHERS, AS THE 26TH IKORODU OGA DAY CONTINUES. | Shakiru Seidu. They were all true disciples of Ikorodu kingdom, Abdulateef Bello explained.

Sunday, 12th of November, 2017, was visited by the special occasion which was characterized by the Honorary Awards conferred on the industrious intellects who have made valid contributions in various human capacity to enhance the development of the community.

In commemoration of the 26th Ikorodu Oga Celebration, the event on Sunday, 12th of November, 2017, was massively attended by people from all works of life. The programme was anchored by Mr Dosumu.

Shortly after the official opening of the programme, the introduction of the Awardees was immediately done while the welcome address was made by IKODAS Chairman, Otunba Ganiyu Olusegun Abiru. He was appreciative of the fact that the founding fathers of Ikorodu, deemed it fit to celebrate the indigenes annually which has enhanced cordial relationship and social networking among the indigenes. He expressed his satisfaction towards their achievement within the shortest period of time to have resharpened, rebranded and repackaged the Division's collective inheritance.

However, HRM, Oba Kabir Adewale Shotobi, the Ayangburen of Ikorodu, applauded the audacity and tenacity of Otunba Abiru in galvanizing supports from all and sundry towards rebranding IKODAS. He further rendered his unreserved kudos to the late Oba Salaudeen Oyefusi, Chief T. O. S Benson and Otunba Elesho who had initiated the idea of IKODAS and has consistently been celebrated in Ikorodu.

Moment for the conferment of Honorary Awards were next on the agenda. Success they say is guaranteed when it meets with adequate preparation. This paved way for Dr. Abiodun Fatai-Abatan (Baresi) who was conferred with the Associate Award.

Dr. Fatai-Abatan who is a lecturer at the prestigious Lagos State University, LASU, has been so resourceful and instrumental towards the development of the Ikorodu. He had excelled in all academic levels; Best Graduating Student of Political Science. He bagged MSc Degree in Political Science and emerged as the best equally. He pursued his academic career to have equally obtained his PhD in Political Science, far away in South Africa.

He has ensured that the interest of Ikorodu indigenes protected being an active member of LASU Independent Indigene Verification Committee (IIVC). No doubt he is a true disciple of Ikorodu and always ready to promote the interest of the indigenes at any level, revealed by Abdulateef Bello when speaking with MegaXpression magazine.

Hon. Rotimi Lateef Abiru, Mr Afolabi Munir Tinubu, Chief Awomodu Akinsola, Mr Idowu Modiu Babatunde, Alhaji Lamidi Ishola Folorunsho, Hon. Wasiu Ayodeji Adesina and Mr Adeola Adebisi Banjo were all confered with Fellow of IKODAS Awards.

Others were Comrade Arole Muhammed, Prince Idowu Oyefusi, Alhaji Kabiru Animashawun, Mr Akinbajo Adewale, Alhaji Olawale Kazeem, Mrs Hadijat Atinuke Anibaba, Mr Olusegun IIuyombo, Mr Musibau Eshinlokun, Mr Ashaolu Adeleke and Mr Jubril Akinola, who were bagged with Associate Awards.

The rest were Chief Kamoru Bombata, Mr Olabinjo Olanrewaju and Comrade Pelumi Olalekan Monsuru, who were conferred with Community Security Awards.

Mr Shakiru Sanni was on Wednesday, May 15, 2024, removed from his position as the Olumale Eluku of Igbogbo Kingdom, after his alleged gross misconduct and disrespect to the Adeboruwa of Igbogbo Kingdom, His Royal Majesty, Oba Semiudeen Orimadegun Kasali and traditional institution of Igbogboland. Mr Shakiru Sanni of Amoju branch, Lantan Onanusi Family in Igbogbo, was made the Olumale Eluku of Igbogbo few years back, and accused of insubordination, abused of tittle and total disrespect to the King, traditional institution of the land and Lantan Onanusi Family.
