LADEGA LAUNCHES HISTORICAL BOOK TITLED 'ORUNSEN', THE SOURCE. | Shakiru Seidu. We have together laid a legacy for many generations to benefit, Aderoju Ladega revealed.
Monday, 13th of November, 2017, all roads were led to Ikorodu town Hall where all sons and daughters of Ikorodu division, gathered to launched an historical book titled ORUNSEN, the Source.
The Book launch which was graced by many dignitaries within and outside Ikorodu gave an insight to the Book; a 134 pages of reference material on the history of Ikorodu: the community and the people.
The author, a graduate of Human Anatomy from the University of Maiduguri; Princess Aderoju Ladega, grand daughter of late Oba Samuel Oderinde Ladega, Olupekan II, The Ayangburen of Ikorodu, 1953-1970, said her curiosity lead to the writing of the Book, "if we do not write about our own history, who will?". She insisted that the Book, details the origin of 10 indigenous towns in Ikorodu division.
The book was reviwed by Mr. Akeem Adenekan, a writer who noted that the second page of the book contains the oriki of ikorodu expressively documented. He affirmed Princess is a shining star and wonderful asset to Ikorodu division.
However, he enjoined the author to make her works more pictorial in order to attract the generation of those who would rather watch than read. The reviewer also urged Royal and Political heads, Chiefs and others, to support her immensely even after the launching.
Alhaja Basirat Akinsanya in her welcome address welcomed all dignitaries present and HRM Oba Kabir Shotobi in absentia, said its been a long way coming and the Book, author and team are open to criticism. She said the book is an effort to move Ikorodu forward and impact lives.
Asipa Kaoli Olusanya, who represented the Chairman of the occasion, Alh. Aremu Sule ( President, Oriwu Club) claims that the best of brains in Nigeria are from Ikorodu division. He said Oriwu Club supports anyone that promotes the heritage of Ikorodu as Princess Aderoju has done. He went futher to say that the book " Orunsen" will steer a lot of controversies but it will also answer many curious historical questions. On a parting note, Asipa Kaoli enjoined youths to do things that will make Ikorodu proud so as to be celebrated.
The guests were thrilled with cultural performance by Morning Star Dance Troop while eminent personalities bought copies of the Book.
Barr. Omolaja in his comment said Princess Ladega deserves prayers and encouragement. He also urged everyone to ensure to get a copy of the book.
Princess Aderoju Ladega, when speaking with Shakiru Seidu of MegaXpression Magazine, said, having successfully launched the Book, ORUNSEN, the source, against all odds, we have together laid a legacy for many generations to benefit. I give gratitude to God and everyone who contributed to the actualization of the event. It is my desire that every household in Ikorodu Division gets a copy of this book, it's an historical book detailing values and with the potential to reconnect us to our source.
She therefore used the privilege to give salutations to people who at different times, during the process of coming up with this project. In no particular order, she thanked Alhaji Ganiyu Olusegun Abiru, Mayor Deen Sanwoola, Dr. Taiwo Hassan, Hon. Adeola Adebisi Banjo, Alhaja Basirat Akinsanya, Jimoh Hamzat and Mr. Akeem Sanwoola, for their advice, moral and financial support that helped her reached this far.
Princess Deroju also extended her sincere appreciation to Hon. Babajimi Benson, MHR, Babatunde Gbadamosi, Sogo Oshikoya, Afolabi Babatunde, Alhaji Taiwo Odumbo, Mrs Adeola Rotinwa, Mrs Olorunfunmi Osinowo, Mrs Sherifat Oguniyi, Comrade Azeez Jimoh, Barr.
