OVER 250 CULTISTS RENOUNCED THEIR MEMBERSHIP, SURRENDERED ARMS AND TOOK OATH IN ILEDI OSUGBO SHRINE OF IMOTA. | Shakiru Seidu. On Wednesday, 29th of November, 2017, history was made as the secret cults members denounced their membership and vowed to turn a new leaf in Imota community.
The Eiye, Ayee, Alora and Buccaneers fraternities were engaged in oath making at the Iledi Osugbo Shrine of Imota, in the presence of HRM Oba Ajibade Agoro, the Ranodu of Imota, Chief Akinsanya Gbeminiyi, Oliwo of Imota, Chief Olabinjo Oyefolu, Apena of Imota, Chief Adebogun Olumuyiwa, Olisa of Imota and other top hirachy in Osugbo, to affirm their decision to denounce their membership from the secret society and ready to embrace new life.
At the Iledi Osugbo Shrine,, the repentant Cultists revealed their interest of relinquishing cultism, while the Chairman of Imota LCDA, Prince Wasiu Agoro, seized the opportunity to inform the traditional heads of the zeal and determination of the youths of the community to completely jettison cultism. He added that the repentant youths confided in him to desist from violence and any form of thuggery and hooliganism in Imota community.
Shortly after the oath taking, they were all received at the Palace of HRM Oba Ajibade Agoro, to properly reintegrate them into the society. They pleaded with the king, Chairman of Imota LCDA, Prince Wasiu Agoro and Commissioner of Police, Lagos State, Edgar Imohimi to assist them to secure better job so that they can make meaningful impact in the society. They welcome any form of empowerment that will be initiated to rehabilitate them.
The front Palace of Oba Ranodu was full to capacity with over 250 repentants. The repentant cultists surrendered all the ammunitions in their possession to the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State, Mr Edgar Imohimi in the presence of Hon. Nurudeen Sholaja, member Lagos State House of Assembly, Prince Wasiu Agoro, Chairman of Imota LCDA, Area Commander, Area N, ACP Garba Ahmed, the Comander, 174.Battalion in Odogunyan, Lieutenant Col. BC Eze and others, to affirm their commitment in renouncing cultism and everything attached to it.
Moreover, Oba Ajibade Agoro advised them never to return to their vomit as he is determined to approach the government on their behalf for appropriate rehabilitation. Kabiyesi further warned that they should refrain from any criminal activities within and outside Imota community.
The Kabiyesi, HRM Oba Agoro enjoined the youths to keep to their words to refrain from cultism. He further referenced to those that had done something similar but ends with no gain. He therefore sued for peaceful coexistence and charity among the youths.
The Commissioner of Police, Mr Edgar Imohimi gladly received their surrendered ammunitions and promised to facilitate laudable vocational training and empowerment schemes that will rehabilitate them before they are reintegrated back into the society. He was so affirmative that the history that has earlier made in Ijede LCDA has repeated itself in Imota LCDA and urged other communities to emulate such.
'Without gain saying, Ikorodu constituency II is set to experience the unimaginable transformation in no time.' This was stated by no other person than Hon. Nurudeen Sholaja, who affirmed that he is committed to do everything possible to fast track the development of Ikorodu constituency II, when speaking with Shakiru Seidu of MegaXpression Magazine.
The Oluomo of Imota equally promised that he will be committed to every developmental project in his constituency, while enjoining the youths of the community to be proactive and resourceful in order to rewrite their own history. Hon. Sholaja further urged the repentant youths to make their word their bond and never to return to cult related activities.
We affirmed our decision and determination never to return to bad behavior, this was stated through the heads of various fraternities (KK, Eiye, Aiye, Buccaneers, Alora, etc). When MegaXpression Magazine quizzed some of their heads, Fasasi Joseph, Akeem Adedayo, Seun Akinsanya and Allison Azeez, on what led them into cultism, they affirmed that land boundary issues turned them to menace in the society with the use of various weapons they were equipped with by their sponsors. They therefore pledged never to return to their horrible lifestyle again.
