ABIRU WINS IKORODU MAN OF THE YEAR AWARD, AS SHOTOBI, OGUNLEWE, OTHERS, EXTOL HIS OUTSTANDING DEVELOPMENTAL STRIDES. | Shakiru Seidu. "Daini, Fatiu, Aroyewun, Gbadamoshi, others, are worthy Ambassadors of Ikorodu Division," Hon Babajimi Benson revealed.

Ikorodu Development Association (IKODASS) Chairman and the former Clerk of Lagos State House of Assembly, Otunba Ganiu Olusegun Abiru,  was on Sunday evening enthroned as the Starlight Man of the Year 2017, after majority of Ikorodu people overwhelmingly voted for him following his nomination by the management of Starlight Newspaper.

Presenting the Starlight Man of the Year 2017 award to IKODASS Chairman at the Town Hall of Ikorodu, on April 8, His Royal Majesty, Oba Kabir Adewale Shotobi, Ayangburen of Ikorodu Kingdom, described Otunba Abiru as a worthy leader who is laying the right foundation for the rapid development of Ikorodu Division. He said: “haven't watched his administration closely, I have no doubt that his administration has done so much, within a short time as Chairman."

Oba Shotobi therefore congratulated Otunba Abiru and other awardees for their outstanding performance in the year 2017. He enjoined others to take advantage of their positions to champion the course of development of Ikorodu Division.

While addressing the gathering, the Chairman of the day and former Head of Service, Lagos State, Prince Adesegun Ogunlewe, said, Abiru is laying the foundation for the prosperity of Ikorodu Division. "This is a remarkable achievement that I am sincerely happy about it," he revealed.

The erudite legislator, representing Ikorodu Federal Constituency, Hon Babajimi Benson, in his eloquent remarks, commended Otunba Abiru for the well deserved honor and his efforts at connecting and uniting Ikorodu Division. Hon. Benson said, Otunba Abiru emerged the Starlight Man of the Year on the strength of his quality leadership and urged other awardees not to compromise on what brought them these far. "I am personally delighted that young people who are redefining community service and showing that Ikorodu Division is indeed blessed are getting the deserved recognition." he said.

They further enjoined them to remain focused and work towards the actualisation of robust governance in Ikorodu Division.

Responding, IKODASS Chairman, Otunba Ganiu Abiru assured people of Ikorodu that he remains committed to the development of the Division. While speaking with Shakiru Seidu of MegaXpression Magazine, he said: “My commitment has been to promote, defend and advance the best interest of our people and contribute to the progress of Ikorodu Division.

“Today, I am very honoured to receive this award because it represents the very ideals that sustains my interest in public service. We refused to be daunted by the rot we inherited, today, the testimonies are everywhere that IKODASS  is working very well for our people" he explained.

The Chairman, Igbogbo/Baiyeku LCDA, Comrade Olusesan Daini, who clinched the most outstanding youth in Ikorodu Division, dedicated the award to the people of Igbogbo/Baiyeku LCDA for their
support and prayers.

Hon SOB Agunbiade, Majority Leader, Lagos State House of Assembly, who received the ASA Carnival Award thanked the organizers and urged all to work together in the interest of Ikorodu Division.

The award, apart from Ikorodu Man of the Year, also witnessed several other categories, which include, most outstanding Council Chairman in Ikorodu Division, won by Alhaji Fatiu Salisu, Chairman Ijede LCDA, the most outstanding youth in Ikorodu Division, clinched by Comr Olusesan Daini, Chairman of Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA, most outstanding Councillor in Ikorodu Division, won by Hon Gbadamoshi Olaomo from Ikorodu West LCDA, most outstanding foundation in Ikorodu Division, won by "Never say never foundation" of Princess Aderoju Ladega, most outstanding event of the year, won by ASA Carnival, most outstanding DJ music goes to Bashexy Studio and the most outstanding Civil Servant in Ikorodu Division, clinched by Comrade Toyin Aroyewun.
