It was celebration all through as the new Sekumade of Ipakodo Kingdom, HRM Alaiyeluwa Oba (Engr.) Bashir Aremu Sotonwa, Bsc (Hons),  FNSE,  Osomeku 1, ascended the throne of his forefathers. There is no much ado that the choice of a quiet achiever, talented, liberal, visionary, committed, cultured, goal-getter, and a profound gentleman, will surely bring progress to Ipakodo Kingdom.

The new monarch, Oba Bashir Aremu Sotonwa, on Saturday, 14th of April, 2018, had an elaborate coronation ceremony attended by eminent personalities including the Royal Heads from Ikorodu Division, His Royal Majesties, Oba Kabir Adewale Shotobi, Ayangburen of Ikorodu, who was unavoidably absent but ably represented, Oba Mudashir Ajibade Agoro, Ranodu of Imota, Oba Semiu Orimadegun Kasali, Adeboruwa of Igbogbo and Oba Richard Ogunsanya, Olubeshe of Ibeshe. The representative of Ikorodu Division at the House of Reps., Hon Babajimi Benson, the Majority Leader, Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon SOB Agunbiade, Members House of Assembly, Hon Saka Fafunmi and Hon Nurudeen Sholaja, who was ably represented. Chairman, Ikorodu Local Government and his Vice, Mr Wasiu Adeshina and Princess Folashade Olabanji-Oba, Chairman, Igbogbo/Baiyeku LCDA, Comrade Olusesan Daini, Chairman, Ikorodu North LCDA, Hon Adebisi Banjo and the Chief host, Princess Olajumoke Jumbo-Adetimehin were all in attendance.

Also at the historical event were Prince Tijani Oniru, Prince Hameed Sule Oniru, Prof. Kunle Ade Wahab, OON, OFR, Chief Olatunji Odusanya mni, Ikorodu Crystal Club, led by Mr Dapo Olowosago, Mr Toyin Gafaar Bolowotan, Comrade Jamiu Okanlawon Pelaiye, ACAOSA, 67-73 Class Set, A+ Disciples, Bola Tinubu Grassroots Alliance, Ambode Progressive Forum, CDAs, Ipakodo Ruling Houses, High Chiefs from Ikorodu Division, league of Baales, religious leaders, Olojas, among others.

Shakiru Seidu of MegaXpression Magazine gathered that the ancient town was shut down because of the event as traders did not display their wares as usual and the commercial vehicles and motorcycles also vanished from the major roads in Ipakodo to pave way for easy access by guests who came for the coronation from far and near.

In her eloquent remarks, the Chairman, Ikorodu West LCDA, Princesses Olajumoke Jumbo-Adetimehin thanked God and Governor Akinwunmi Ambode for the support and genuined magnanimity bestowed on the LCDA to make the vacant stool occupied. She further wish the King, a very peaceful reign and rapid development of the entire Kingdom.

His Royal Majesty, Oba Bashir Sotonwa, while making his remarks returned the glory and adoration to Almighty God who has made the day possible. He also expressed his gratitude to Governor Ambode, who's bold strides in developmental administration of Lagos State is unparalleled in the entire federation. He appealed for a befitting Palace and urged all to work in alliance towards uplifting Ipakodo community.

Hon Babajimi Benson, MHR, while speaking with MegaXpression Magazine, congratulated HRM Oba Sotonwa and assured him of his unalloyed support. He further enjoined more personality of present Royal Heads calibre to ascend the Royal Stools, for the growth and development of Ikorodu Division.

Dancing, eating and drinking were later took the possession of the colourful ceremony.

Mr Shakiru Sanni was on Wednesday, May 15, 2024, removed from his position as the Olumale Eluku of Igbogbo Kingdom, after his alleged gross misconduct and disrespect to the Adeboruwa of Igbogbo Kingdom, His Royal Majesty, Oba Semiudeen Orimadegun Kasali and traditional institution of Igbogboland. Mr Shakiru Sanni of Amoju branch, Lantan Onanusi Family in Igbogbo, was made the Olumale Eluku of Igbogbo few years back, and accused of insubordination, abused of tittle and total disrespect to the King, traditional institution of the land and Lantan Onanusi Family.
