OBA KABIR SHOTOBI'S MINI MARATHON ENDS IN GRAND STYLE, AS FATAI AZEEZ AND ADEWUNBI SALEWA EMERGED WINNERS OF MALE AND FEMALE RACE. | SHAKIRU Seidu Agunbiade is a blessing to Ikorodu Kingdom. -Oba Shotobi. Oba Kasali, Sholaja, Elesho, others, graced the occasion.

The much acclaimed Oba Kabir Shotobi's Mini Marathon race finally came to an end on Saturday, 1st of October, 2017.

The starting point of the race was at the prestigious Palace of the Ayangburen of Ikorodu, when Oba Kabir Adewale Shotobi cut the tape for the commencement of the race. Immediately after that, HRM Oba Semiudeen Orimadegun Kasali, the Adeboruwa of Igbogbo Kingdom called the athletes to the starting point and thereafter gave them the green light.

The Mini Marathon race of 6.9km ended at the Igbogbo Police Barracks. It was really competitive and a survival of the fittest which separated the men from the boys and women from the girls.

The programme at the Barracks officially began with an opening prayer said by Otunba Ayodele Elesho while the organizing Chairman, Mr Bello took turn after by appreciating the Stakeholders in the Marathon race. He reiterated that 303 students applied for the race while 254 were eventually selected. Others were dropped based on health ground.

However, the Chairman thanked the owner of Justrite Mail for his generosity as he gave vouchers worth of #10,000 each to the first twenty athletes. He promised that the subsequent race will receive more of professionalism, while congratulating Hon. S.O.B Agunbiade for his audacity of purpose.

The Majority Leader, Lagos State House of Assembly and the sponsor of Oba Kabir Shotobi Mini Marathon, Hon S.O.B Agunbiade, graciously paid royal respect to the Ayangburen of Ikorodu and Adeboruwa of Igbogbo, while applauding the co-sponsor for building the vision. He assured all of much better tournament in the nearest future.

In the same vein, HRM Oba Semiudeen Kasali seized the occasion  to acquaint the guests and participants how Baddo insurgents has been curbed in Ikorodu division.

HRM Oba Kabir Adewale Shotobi in his remarks sincerely thanked Hon. S.O.B Agunbiade and applauded the participants while enjoining the parents to encourage their wards in more of such events.

Shortly after this, the announcement of winners and presentation of trophies were done. In the Male category, Fatai Azeez of Dodar Private School, Maya, Tijani Sefiu of Senior Model College, Igbokuta and Olanrewaju Saheed of Elepe Community Senior Grammar School clinched 1st, 2nd and 3rd position respectively. The female category was not left out as well as Adewunbi Salewa of Light House private School Ikorodu clinched the first position along side her counterparts.

Some of the dignitaries that witnessed the occasion were His Royal Majesties, Oba Kabir Shotobi, Oba Semiudeen Kasali, Hon. Nurudeen Sholaja, Otunba Ayodele Elesho, Asipa Kaoli Olusanya, Otunba Waliu Daisi, Alhaja Giwa, Otunba Awomodu, Chief Williams and wife, Comrade Fakolade Oluwaseun, Alhaja Ogunniyi from Oriwu College, Mr Soliu from Model School Igbokuta, among others.
