FASHOLA FLAGS OFF REHABILITATION OF IKORODU-SHAGAMU ROAD. | Shakiru Seidu. ...Asks Artisans or Suppliers to contact Olorunfunmi Basorun for job approval. "The road will improve the socio-economic life of our people," Hon. Babajimi Benson revealed.

The Federal Ministry of Power, Works and Housing, on Monday, 21st of May, 2018, officially inaugurated the rehabilitation of the Ikorodu-Shagamu Road. The road which is one of the Colonial Roads inherited by the federal Government after independence, is 30.1km long, linking Ikorodu roundabout in Lagos State to Shagamu town in Ogun State and is a major road access for trucks/tankers evacuating petroleum products from NNPC Depot Mosimi, and the Lafarge Cement factory at Shagamu.

While ddressing the audience, the Minister of Power, Works and Housing, His Excellency, Mr Babatunde Raji Fashola, SAN, said the road rehabilitation is in fulfillment of APC government's promise to improve the infrastructure of the Country.

According to him, "The Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting of Wednesday, 28th of March, 2018 awarded the contract for the full rehabilitation of Ikorodu - Shagamu Road, which passes through Odogunyan - Ogijo - Likosi -Mosimi - Sotubo before terminating at Shagamu in Ogun State at the cost of N20,845,338,248.20 to Messrs Arab Contractors O.A.O. Nigeria Ltd with a contract period of 36 months. It should be emphasized that the scope of works involves the full reconstruction of the road which hitherto has been in a very poor condition and requires urgent intervention."

He further Informed the gathering that any artisan or supplier that is interested to work with Arab Contractors, either as labourer or supplier, should contact Chief Olorunfunmi Basorun for approval. "He is my Coordinator," Fashola said. He also reiterate that the federal government is working hard to ensure prompt distribution of prepaid meters to the applicants.

While making his remarks, Hon. Babajimi Benson, MHR, thanked His Excellency, President Muhammadu Buhari and applauded his magnanimous gesture on Ikorodu-Shagamu road. "Certainly, the rehabilitation work on this road will surely relieve the pains and suffering of our people and more so, it will enhance the commercial activities between and within the States." Hon. Benson explained.

MegaXpression Magazine gathered that His Royal Majesty, Oba Kabir Adewale Shotobi, Ayangburen of Ikorodu, in his eloquent remarks, thanked President Muhamadu Buhari, Mr Babatunde Fashola, Sen. Gbenga Ashafa and Hon. Babajimi Benson, MHR, for making the dream come true.

Oba Shotobi, who was ably represented by Sir (Otunba) Ayodele Elesho, Agbaakin of Ikorodu, assured the APC government of his unflinching support and urged the residents of Ikorodu Division to support Arab Contractor to achieve success.

In the same vein Senator Gbenga Ashafa and Hon. Abike Dabiri, thanked President Muhamadu Buhari for his love and kind on Lagosians. They urged residents and the road users to give maximum support to the Contractor.

The flag-off was witnessed with notable personalities, which include Minister of Power, Works and Housing, Mr Babatunde Raji Fashola, SAN, HRM Oba Kabir Adewale Shotobi, Ayangburen of Ikorodu, ably represented by Otunba Ayodele Elesho, former Deputy Governor, Prince Abiodun Ogunleye, former SSG, Chief Olorunfunmi Basorun, Senator Gbenga Ashafa, Hon.
